1 week back

 Hey Guys

Welcome back to another blog post and today I will be talking to you about what we have been doing this week. This week we have been doing athletics training and we have done high jump, long jump, shot putt, and discuss practice. We have our actual athletics day in a couple of weeks and this is just building up to it. My favorite part of athletics is definitely the high jump because I have some spring in my feet.

The Holiday Ski Trip

Hey Guys
Welcome back to another blog post and today I will be telling you about what I did during the holidays. In the holidays my main highlight was the ski trip I went on with my family. We went up to Cadrona which is on a mountain between Queenstown and Wanaka. For the first day we went up there I wanted to ski like I normally do but the next day we went up there I wanted to learn how to snowboard. I got a snowboard lesson because I had never done it before. After the lesson, I was already going down the chair lift

Minecraft instant ice

 Hey Guys

Welcome back to another blog post and today I will be showing you my instant ice experiment in Minecraft. Now when I did the experiment in real life I did not know that you had to put salt in the water to make it freeze better. Me and my friend made a massive cup in Minecraft and then put ice in it. After that, we made a bottle of water tipping water on to it. The water was turning into ice in Minecraft the second it hit the ice. We added some detail to the cup-like a heart and no 1 so it was not just a plain white cup.

The experiment we did was super fun afterward though because I got to have a slushy with the liquids I used. I hope you guys like my science experiment we did and I also hope you like the Minecraft creation we did too.

My name in sign language

Hey Guys welcome back to another blog post, and today  I will be showing you how to say Kia ora my name is Tristan. Now you can look up the nzsl alphabet so you can sign your name to but don't do the exact same as me or else you will be saying Kia ora my name is Tristan. Here are some facts and knowledge about New Zealand sign language. NZSL is a combination of hand shapes, facial expressions, and body movements.

NZSL is the natural language of the Deaf community in New Zealand; it reflects New Zealand culture by including signs for Maori terminology and concepts, which can not be found in other sign languages or countries. As one of the country’s official languages, more than 24,000 New Zealanders use NZSL daily. It is also the 12th most frequently used language out of approximately 190 languages currently used in New Zealand (Census 2006).

My flight test summary

Hey Guys
Welcome back to another blog post and today I will be showing you the summary I did on flight.
An airplane uses the forces of aerodynamics to either lift it up off the ground or speed up in the air. Airplanes and birds use the same type of infrastructure to fly but the only difference is that birds use muscles to fly and a plane uses its engine. A bird and a plane both have wings and those wings allow the plane and bird to leave the ground but since a bird is so light and a plane is very heavy they take off different ways. A bird can just flap its wings and it will take off but a plane has to get a big run-up.

This is because of the aerodynamics of the bird/plane, The plane has wings that can't move so it has to hook the wind under its wings to fly and the bird can flap its wings and since they are so light and they can hold their own weight they hook the wind under their wings a lot easier. So if a plane or bird is in mid-air they need to different amounts of thrust drag and lift or else they will just hover mid-air like a helicopter Drag is a force that is hitting the nose and pulling it backward, the thrust is the thing that propels it forward, the lift is what pushes it off the ground and the weight is what will pull it down so it does not go to space.

One of the questions we had to answer is why does a paper plane glide when it is dropped and then weight goes straight to the ground. This is because of a paper plane has wings that can hook the wind underneath it and weight does not. It is also kind because of the weight of it, just the force pulling it down to the ground.

Flight test results

Hey Guys
Welcome back to another blog post and today I am going to be showing you my flight results for my different paper planes. I figured out that my best plane was an a4 piece of paper and this video is the one I used to make my plane. As you can see on the table below the bigger planes did not do as well as the a4 and neither did the smaller planes.

Capillary action

Hey Guys
Welcome back to another blog post and today I will be telling you about capillary action and some plant biology. Capillary action in water includes water moving up a straw or glass tube, moving through a paper or cloth towel, moving through a plant, and tears moving through tear ducts.

Capillary action is important for moving water around. It is the movement of water in and out of your cellular structure that deposits vitamins, nutrients, and vital blood plasma. Without this flow, your body's cells would not rehydrate and vital communication between your brain and body would slow down.
Cohesion is what causes the water drops on a plant to go into a certain formation and adhesion is the thing that lets the water drops stick to the plant. Without adhesion, the water drops would just drop off the plant. AN example of cohesion in human form is when you go rock climbing and you put chalk on your hands to help you stick more to the rocks than you would without it

An Aurora

Hey Guys
Welcome back to another blog post and today I am going to be showing you my aurora art piece I made and I will be telling you a little bit about auroras. An aurora is a natural light display that shimmers in the sky. Colorful blue, red, yellow, green, and orange lights shift gently and change shape like softly blowing curtains. Auroras are only visible at night, and usually, only appear in lower polar regions like the North pole and the South pole.

Ernest Rutherford

Hey Guys
Welcome back to another blog post, and today I will be telling you a little bit about Ernest Rutherford. Rutherford was a New Zealand–born British physicist who came to be known as the father of nuclear physics. Encyclopedia Britannica considers him to be the greatest experimentalist since Michael Faraday. Ernest Rutherford postulated the nuclear structure of the atom, discovered alpha and beta rays, and proposed the laws of radioactive decay. He received the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1908. I also made a poster on what he did in his lifetime. I hope you enjoy.

Magic Square

This week at school we have been learning about magic squares. Magic squares are A square grid of numbers in which the numbers in each row, column and diagonal add up the same number is often called a magic square. The sum of the numbers in each row, column and diagonal is called the magic number. We have learned all about these this week and we have learned multiple ways to solve them quickly. In the DLO below you will see some of the magic squares I solved.

Matariki Story

Hey Guys
Welcome back to another blog post and today I will be showing you my Matariki story. Matariki is all about celebration and spending time with family. Matariki was also important for agriculture. I hope you enjoy my Matariki story.

Air pollution pixel art

Hey Guys
Welcome back to another blog post and today I am going to be showing you my air pollution art I made on pixel art. This art piece shows one of the worst global issues, air pollution. Air pollution is so bad because it kills all of our wildlife and sometimes even us. On the last part, you may notice that the bird dies, but that is what is going to happen if we keep polluting the air they will try to fly through it but then they will breathe it in and die. I hope you like my air pollution art.

ASCII

Hey guys
Welcome back to another blog post and today I will be showing you my name in ASCII form. ASCII is Pronounced ask-ee, ASCII is the acronym for the American Standard Code for Information Interchange. It is a code for representing 128 English characters as numbers, with each letter assigned a number from 0 to 127. For example, the ASCII code for uppercase M is 77. All we had to was figure out what our initials are in ASCII. In the slide below it shows my name in ASCII and in binary.

Samoan Siapo Design

Hey Guys
Welcome back to another blog post and today I am going to showing you and telling you a little bit about my Siapo design. One of the oldest and most important traditions of Samoa is the Siapo or Tapa.  It is a type of cloth made from the bark of the mulberry tree.  It is very time-consuming, because the bark must be harvested, stripped, separated, scraped, and beaten before it can be used.  It is then laid out in the sun to dry. The artist uses natural dyes, created from items such as berries, bark, and nuts to make patterns on the cloth.
There are 13 traditional patterns used on siapo that represent things common to Samoan cultures such as nets, coconut leaves, shells, and flowers. I hope you enjoy my siapo design.

My pleasing portrait

Hey Guys
I hope you have had an amazing 7-8 week holiday but now we are back to school for another year of blogging.

One of the pieces of art we have done so far this year is our portraits. My portrait has not been finished just yet but when I do finish it I will update this post with it on it.

Some of the things you will see in the portrait are my favourite things to do. One of my favourite things to do is karate, I have been doing it since I was 5 years old and I have continued doing it until this very day. Right now I am a black belt and even if you don't do karate most people know that that is the highest belt

Another thing I love to do that you will see is training. I love to train every morning from 5:00-5:30 and after I have trained I do a 3-4 k walk with my dad and my dog. I do this every weekday and then at the weekend I have a bit of asleep in.

And last but not least I love to do sport like soccer, and swimming. This year I have entered the swimming sports and I am gonna do Freestyle. This year I am also gonna play for a soccer team called the wizards. So I hope this year is gonna be a good one.

Romero Britto is the man that I got the influence from with his style of drawing but you can't see it right now but you should see it by next week.

I hope you all have a good year as well happy new year and I will be posting again next week so bye.

waste to me

A trustable website about waste

I think that waste is basically trash that gets chucked in the bin after you have used it. Did you know that New Zealanders currently generate about 734kg of waste each per year? That amount has increased by around 20 per cent over the past three years. And also Waste can be put into five types of waste which is all commonly found around the house. These include liquid waste, solid rubbish, organic waste, recyclable rubbish and hazardous waste. Make sure that you segregate your waste into these different types to ensure proper waste removal.

Some facts about waste are that We bin around 50m tonnes of electrical waste globally every year. We throw away 7.2 million tonnes of food every year, and more than half of it's perfectly edible. Between 20% and 40% of fruit and vegetables are rejected by supermarkets before they even hit the shelves.

In conclusion, we are killing our planet with the amount of waste we are throwing
out of our homes but we are also helping create new things with our waste like paper cup holders new garbage

_________________________________________________________________________________

This is the writing about waste we had to do for our writing
It is about what waste means to me
